Gene MS4A2

Also known as
FCER1B, high affinity IgE receptor beta subunit, IGEROverview
MS4A2 (Membrane Spanning 4-Domains A2), also known as FCER1B, encodes the beta subunit of the high-affinity IgE receptor (FceRI) expressed on mast cells and basophils. This receptor is the key trigger for IgE-mediated allergic reactions. When allergen-bound IgE crosslinks FceRI, it initiates signaling cascades leading to degranulation and release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators.Variants in MS4A2 have been associated with atopy, asthma, and elevated IgE levels. The E237G polymorphism affects receptor signaling and has been linked to enhanced allergic responses. Variants in this gene may influence the severity of allergic diseases and response to allergen immunotherapy.
Understanding your MS4A2 genetic status provides insights into IgE receptor function and allergic disease susceptibility. This information is relevant for understanding allergic reaction severity and potentially guiding allergy management strategies.
